📝 Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 sheets of nori (seaweed)
  • 8 ounces sushi-grade tuna, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust according to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 cucumber, cut into thin matchsticks
  • Soy sauce, for dipping
  • Pickled ginger, for serving

📝 Method

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the sushi rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for about 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until the sugar and salt dissolve.
  4. Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and pour the vinegar mixture over it. Gently mix to coat the rice with the seasoning. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the chopped tuna, mayonnaise, and sriracha sauce. Mix well to coat the tuna with the spicy mayo mixture.
  6. Place a bamboo sushi mat on a clean surface and put a sheet of nori on top.
  7. Wet your hands with water and take a handful of sushi rice, spreading it evenly over the nori, leaving about 1 inch at the top free of rice.
  8. Place a row of spicy tuna mixture and cucumber matchsticks in the center of the rice.
  9. Using the bamboo mat, roll the sushi tightly from the bottom, applying gentle pressure to shape it into a cylinder. Moisten the top edge of the nori with water to seal the roll.
  10. Repeat the process with the remaining nori sheets and ingredients.
  11. Use a sharp knife to slice each roll into bite-sized pieces.
  12. Serve the spicy tuna roll sushi with soy sauce and pickled ginger.
